WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR ROOF INSPECTION
If you’ve ever wondered what happens during your roof inspection, you’re not alone. We get asked this question all the time.
So check out this short video that walks you through everything our team does to thoroughly inspect your roof.
On the Ground
Once we arrive at your home, we begin with a thorough inspection of the ground level around your house. While we're primarily looking for hail damage to your roof, hail damages more than just shingles. So we inspect gutter downspouts, HVAC units, grills, and other metal items found around your home, as these items can provide additional evidence of hail damaging your property.
On the Roof
After we complete a full walk around inspection, your specialist will access the roof via ladder to begin an on-the-roof inspection. Oftentimes, your roof also contains metal components, such as gutter guards, ventilation, skylights, or metal roofing. We inspect each of these items for hail damage, which show up in the form of dents. Your specialist may utilize sidewalk chalk to help bring clarity to the damage, much like a pencil rubbing does when placed over a leaf.
Now that your specialist has inspected all the metal on the roof, the final stage of the inspection begins. We inspected a portion of all four sides of your roof, front, left, back, and right. Because your roof is too large to inspect every shingle, your specialist will select a sample area on each side, typically about 100 square feet, and identify any damage to your shingle cause by hail and wind. If damage is found, it's marked with sidewalk chalk so it can be documented. And there's no need to worry, the chalk washes away during the next rain.
Your Report
During the inspection, we photograph each piece of evidence found and complete a report for you while onsite. If no storm damage is found, we'll document any other maintenance issue or recommendation and provide you with a report of those findings. Either way, you'll know exactly what's going on with your roof once our inspection is finished. Our last step is to review the report with you and answer any questions you may have.
